Overall Purpose of Job

You will be responsible for the safe transportation of the members to and from the Day Resource Centre.  The essential nature of the Centre is to provide a pathway for people with physical disabilities to full participation with the community.

 

Please note this role is to support a Youth Disco, which takes place once a month for 7 hours between September and June (at nighttime). You will be required to work these specific hours.

Liaison

Close liaison is required with youth service staff, youth members and their families for the successful implementation of this position.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Transport youth members to and from the monthly disco which takes place in Clontarf. Transport routes can start from both our Clontarf and Lucan centres, depending on staff availability and Youth Service requirements

  • Actively ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of driving

  • Record and report any hazards, accidents or potential incidents to the Youth Worker

  • Ensure that vehicles for which you are responsible for are at all times in a roadworthy condition and clean. Report defects and maintenance requests to youth worker.

  • Carry out any other duties and / or responsibilities which may be assigned to you from time to time

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Training, Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Driving licence D/D1 and CPC are essential

  • Experience of working with young people is beneficial

  • Outgoing and flexible nature a priority

Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is desirable

  • Previous experience of working with young people is desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations, as well as transport safety and standards of use is essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team, and on own initiative as appropriate

  • Flexible approach to work

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary range between €12.29 and €15.15 per hour (DOE)
