Job Title Driver- Arklow

20 hours per week, 4 months fixed term position


Overall Purpose of Job

You will be responsible for the safe transportation of the members to and from the Resource and Outreach Centre.  The essential nature of the Centre is to provide a pathway for people with physical disabilities to full participation with the community.


Please note this role requires availability Monday- Friday, between the hours 9:00am – 11:00am and 3:00pm – 5:00pm to accommodate delivery of the service.


Close liaison is required with Resource and Outreach Centre staff and members for the successful implementation of this position. Links will also be made with relevant voluntary and statutory agencies, families and friends of members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport participants to and from the Centre a daily basis, and also to and from other related community activities as required by the Service Coordinator

  • Record and report any hazards, accidents or potential incidents to the Service Coordinator

  • Ensure that vehicles for which you are responsible are at all times in a roadworthy condition and make such arrangements as are necessary for the maintenance, cleanliness and repairs of such vehicles in consultation with Service Coordinator

  • Train staff and volunteers in all aspects relating to transport safety and standards of use

  • Actively ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of activities

  • Carry out any other duties and / or responsibilities which may be assigned to you from time to time by the Service Coordinator


Training, Experience and Qualifications


  • Driving licence D/D1 and CPC are essential

  • Good working IT knowledge

  • Experience of working with people with physical & sensory disability and also elderly is essential


Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations, as well as transport safety and standards of use is essential

  • Previous experience of working with people with disabilities an advantage

  • Ability to work as part of a team, and on own initiative as appropriate

  • Flexible approach to work

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary range between €12,821 and €15,810 per annum (DOE, pro-rated salary)
